Chat GPT is currently undergoing an upgrade.
The first release of the AI-powered bot was mind-blowing but OpenAI is stepping things up with the release of GPT-4. The capabilities of GPT-4 have been circulating for quite a while, even though OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman has been downplaying these rumours stating it was likely to “leave people disappointed”.
The current GPT-3 is trained on 175 billion ‘parameters’ but, believe it or not, GPT-4 is set to be built on a much, much larger scale (rumour has it 100 trillion parameters!). Microsoft’s CTO, Andreas Braun, has hinted at the release coming as soon as next week: “We will introduce GPT-4 next week, there we will have multi-modal models that will offer completely different possibilities – for example, videos”.

Utilise smart devices to your advantage to create a relaxing environment - from smart lights and smart plugs to sunrise lamps, thermostats, and aromatherapy gadgets

Hi, my name is Tom Shaw, I’m a self-taught software developer and content creator from Nottingham, UK. I first started learning to code in April 2020 (apart from the odd attempt at HTML and CSS when I was younger). Since then I have worked on many projects as a freelancer and even worked on some of my own projects as a part of my “entrepreneurial” journey.
What would be your three top tips for anyone else looking to start out as a self-taught dev?
- Make it fun. You’ll find it so much easier to keep going when things get tough.
- Take your own initiative to learn. Just following someone else's roadmap might not be the best way for you to reach your goals.
- Build real projects. Copying code from YouTube tutorials all day isn’t going to get you anywhere. Pick a problem that you want to solve and then figure it out along the way.
