Your own personal DJ 🎧 Well, an AI-powered one at least…
The streaming service, Spotify, released its latest feature recently in the shape of an AI-powered DJ. Listeners on the platform now have access to a personalised music experience, which works similarly to a radio DJ.
Spotify’s DJ feature will deliver a curated selection of music alongside, in its case, AI-powered spoken commentary about the tracks and artists that you like, using what Spotify says is a “stunningly realistic voice.”
But, what makes the feature so special and no different from simply creating your own playlist? The platform has said it’s leveraging Generative AI through the use of OpenAI technology to create the commentary, which is meant to scale its in-house music experts’ insights about music, artists and genres. Will you be giving it a try?

Cleaning up the world’s waste problem is a long and painful journey. 🗑
For the past 10 years, a 28-year-old founder (Boyan Slat) of a non-profit environmental organisation The Ocean Cleanup has been working on ways to filter plastic waste out of the Pacific Ocean.
The cleanup involves trying to minimise harm to any marine life whilst removing as much waste as possible from the oceans, by using a long, u-shaped barrier (similar to a net) that is pulled through patches of rubbish by boats.
But, how can we possibly know how much waste is still left to be removed? AI-powered cameras are used to continuously scan the ocean's surface for plastic and calibrate the team's computer models, helping them understand which parts of the Pacific area to target.
By the end of the year, it’s estimated that 1% of the waste will be removed. So, we all need to remember to do our bit and recycle where we can ♻️
